I am glad to see that the FTC is attempting to place some controls on the independent businesses. There are far to many schemes that rip people off and give the legitimate business like Quixtar, Mary Kay, and Avon a bad name. Some of the proposed regulations will greatly benefit those legitimate companies and others will cripple them. Requiring full money back policy on sign up and unused products is a must, however having a seven day waiting period should only be applied if there is no internet access to all disclosure information and/or no refund policy. Giving a "reference list" out of one's competition is absurd. It will only cause stealing of prospects and it would be impossible for those who don't know other distributors. Listing all lawsuits or complaints that have been proven and won a case on the company's web site is a great idea. However, giving prospects invalidated claims is simply slander and misrepresenting of in appropate claim. If this rule is enacted then the FTC needs to be ready and willing to monitor each and every "business" out there to ensure that all valid claims are being posted and available for those who are interested in viewing them. Requiring disclosure for every income claim would be very difficult because in all of these business individual income is up to each person and their willingness to work. This would be like disclosing every collage grade for every test for every student with out disclosing exactly how much time was spent studying and what that persons IQ and social background is. A better and far more accurate way to inform prospects is an average income listing that is updated yearly for all distributors. Providing prospects with personal financial documents to back up ("substantiate") any income claim is like handing out your tax return to every one you meet. This is the USA - what an invasion of privacy this would be. I have been a Quixtar/Amway distributor for about 20 years now. I have not built the business as of yet but that is only because I have not done the things that my sponsor has trained me to do. Quixtar is without doubt the most honest company out there, I would like to suggest that you take a long hard look at their web site and model your rules after theirs. Sherry Wong
