I am writing this note because I am concerned about the proposed Business Opportunity Rule R511993. With each passing day I become more disappointed in our federal government and it's choices of issues to deal with. I am tired of seeing the few make rules for the many. Whether it is the Pledge of Allegiance, the Ten Commandments, Christmas displays or a myriad of other issues, a minority of people are able to dictate what the majority can and cannot do and how, if they can do, define the how. I strongly object to the aforementioned proposed rule and the harm it will do to millions of direct sellers - an large percentage of which are mothers trying to do more for their children. If you want to do something related to consumer products and disclosure how about making the large corporations who bring our meats (beef, chicken, pork) to market show how they are really raised - in spaces so small they cannot move, being shot up with antibiotics, sick, dying, loaded with cancer, etc. How about the chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides that are applied to our fruits, vegetables and grains so much so that the bugs can't survive eating them but we are expected to. While I'm at it - let's not forget the pharmaceutical companies who poison us with their maintenance programs of multiple medications which do not heal, may temporarily relieve syptoms, cure nothing and cause additional health issues. Big corporations are killing us daily with their nondisclosure of their shortcuts to greater profits and you want to make it harder for the individual who has a home based direct selling business. Is that because we do not have high paid lobbyists greasing your palms both today with presents and tomorrow with the promise of higher paying jobs after you leave the FTC? I ask for the people in your agency to get involved and take a stand with the issues that really make a difference in people's lives - health and quality of life. Take a hard look in the mirror and get your priorities in order or get out of government service because you are not helping.
