To whom it may concern, I have been selling Cookie Lee jewelry for two years now and it has been an asset to my family’s finances allowing me to be at home with my son. I have learned a lot about myself, as well, through this direct sales business; I have discovered some of my strengths and weaknesses and have learned from them to make my business a better one. A seven-day waiting period seems initially like it might be a good way of deterring fraudulent transactions, but a determined crook would not see that as a detriment to his/her schemes. Before I signed up to sell Cookie Lee jewelry I took the time to "check out" the company and consider the pros and cons of signing up. Most people do this anyway, so any additional time in the sign up process seems ridiculous. Why should the company be punished or be treated in a suspicious manner just because some people are not doing their "homework" before hand? As far as the litigation reporting it seems unfair and some what silly that it does not distinguish between winning and losing lawsuits; there is a big difference between the two in my opinion. When traveling if I am approached by some one who wants to purchase my jewelry it is not likely I would have all of my paperwork on me and it is impractical to find the 10 nearest distributors when I am not always familiar or connected to the area in which I may be selling or signing up purchasers. There are privacy issues with traveling with that type of information and likely ID theft if the information is put into the hands of the wrong person. I appreciate the goals of this ruling, and I understand that are fraudulent groups out there, but the proposed rule would unfairly target legitimate direct selling businesses such as Cookie Lee. I hope that a more agreeable rule is created if need be. Sincerely, Amber Callahan
