I wanted to commend the FTC on this proposed ruling. My wife got involved with a MLM company in April of 2004 that claimed great success. She was taught to "fake it until you make it". Soon all that was important to her was working the business. She spent all her time at the computer working websites to get others involved, and spent all our savings, due to the false claims of those recruiting her. Today she has over a dozen websites telling others about the opportunities by "just changing where you shop", her claims sound as though she is living off of that income, and paying off everything she owes. In reality, our marriage could not survive, and she is living off of the SSI checks she receives for our handicapped daughter, making less than $500 a year from her MLM. Her upline is still telling her of the riches that await her if she just keeps trying. I think if MLM companies are required to backup financial claims many will be forced to be honest and the prospective recruit will be able to make an informed judgement based on true facts. I have never been one for more government rules and regulations, but in this case, I truly believe that this will be a step forward in creating more honest business practices in marketing in the future. I very much look forward to it proceeding as planned. Thank you
