To the FTC: RE: Business Opportunity Rule, R511993 Please HALT the progress of this rule which will cripple my business and the businesses of hundreds of thousands of Americans. We depend on this supplemental income to be able to stay in our regular jobs as companies are downsizing and lowering wages. The part time business opportunity I represent is only a $35 cost....less than a CostCo or Sam's Club Membership. Is Sam's Club or CostCo required to make people wait 7 days before using their membership? Our company operates on The SAME principals...people pay a low membership rate in order to buy products at a discounted price. Yet because we are not HUGE corporate entities, we fall under the rule change you propose. Is this fair? Absolutely not! We are being penalized for not being a large conglomerate! Please reconsider this ruling and use newfound information to tailor this to a larger startup cost opportunity....example: make the rule apply to opportunities over $500, $1000, or more. The revenues generated by this entire industry is over $29 Billion annually! The growth of this industry needs to be encouraged! As jobs are being outsourced so large corporations can make more money, Americans can be involved in their own home based businesses and keep the money here in our country where it belongs! The detrimental effect this rule will have on our growing industry will be devastating! People will simply not be willing to wait 7 days or they will think badly of the legitimate opportunity they are being offered. People are simply NOT willing to wait when they want to buy something. This is the whole concept of how a "convenience" store makes money. This is a bad idea.....imagine how the economy would slow down or stop if every purchase had to wait 7 days.....why should this be done to ANY part of our economy. A person goes through a 7 day waiting period for a FIREARM. Why should this require the same amount of time?....it makes no sense whatsoever. In short, this blanket rule will destroy my business. Please amend or stop this proposed rule. A proposal of this magnitude should be voted on by Congress....the voice of the PEOPLE should be heard, not the corporations!
