Dear Sirs: I am writing in regard to Business Opportunity Rule R511993.I am a woman nearing retirement age who did not have the opportunity to attend college until my mid 30's.I was a stay-at-home mom while my children were small. Consequently, my working years and career began late, especially since I could only work part-time the first few years. This has severely reduced the Social Security I am eligible to receive at normal retirement age. I will have to work until I am 70 just to get the amount I would be entitled to. I am trying very hard to get a business started so I can be less dependent upon the government to support me. I have made a good start and would love to be able to support myself entirely. I appreciate the FTC'S mission and feel you have made a tremendous difference in regard to helping businesses in America.Rule 511993, however, unfairly targets legitimate businesses. The seven day waiting period would cause unneccessary delays and would cause clients to think of direct selling in a negative light. In regard to requiring references it would be highly impractical and nearly impossible to find the ten nearest sales people as they would be constantly changing. Privacy and possible identity theft issues would also be raised here. These are only a few of the problems Rule511993 would cause. Please do not put this law into effect. Esther Walter
