Dear Federal Trade Commission Member: I am writing you to reconsider some of the requirements you are proposing for the direst sales Industry. I have proudly worked with PartyLite for 11 1/2 years and began this business just for fun. (I was a Labor and Delivery nurse for 14 years at the University of Tennessee Hospital here in Knoxville,) The no cost investment and only having to do six in home shows, made the decision to try this business a "no lose" opportunity. After doing both jobs for about 1 1/2 years, I felt I could leave my nursing job and do nothing but PartyLite. I am happy to say that for a little over 10 years I have done nothing but PartyLite and the Lord has provided a very good income. One of the things I am concerned about is the 7 day waiting period being proposed before someone considering the business can join. This would directly affect their being able to start when they choose. One of the great things about this business is that people are their own boss and set their own schedules. The other issue that concerns me is giving personal references of the 10 closest (in geographical area) people I know in PartyLite. I totally agree that prospective business members should be able to talk to others about coming into this business, because that encourages them to join. But I am uncomfortable providing personal information. To me this seems like an invasion of privacy. Please know that I am thrilled that the FTC exists and is out there monitoring these areas to protect consumers like me. It is just that I do not want a trustworthy, ethical, established company like PartyLite to suffer because of regulations that will hinder our businesses. It will affect me professionally and personally. I am just asking that you reconsider the regulations you are proposing. Thanks you so much for your attention in this matter. Best Regards, Susan Campbell
