Dear Federal Trade Commission Member: I wish to share with you my concern about the proposed requirements regarding the direct sales industry. I am a PartyLite Consultant who has been associated with this company for two years. However, I have been involved in direct sales for nearly 40 years. I enjoy the freedom arrange my own schedule, which the direct sales occupation allows. Others enjoy this benefit too. This income has allowed me to be able to be with my husband when he is ill. The terms of the references requirement would make my business more difficult and could impact my income. Due to privacy rights now in place, I would not feel comfortable providing personal contact information of other PartyLite Consultants; and neither would I want my information given out. The people I share PartyLite with are all people who are very much aware of the product quality and good name of our company. Therefore, I feel that these proposed requirements would be unnecessary and would hinder my ability to help them start their business in the timeframe they would want. While I do appreciate your efforts to protect the public - I feel that these proposed regulations would be a great hinderance to my business, my income, and my future. Thank you for your attention to my views and concerns. Respectfully, Marian Shurts Illinois
