I am strongly opposed to Business Opportunity Rule R511993. It could prevent me from continuing as a distributor/affiliate with The Country Club. I have been an independent Distributor/Affiliare for over a year now, and I am very satisfied with my company's legitimacy and integrity. I do not have many options except to work from home. The Country Club is the most viable and honest business I have ever worked. People are making money here. A 7 day waiting period will only force me to abandon growth in the US and to concentrate on building in foreign countries.... another loss for our balance of trade and a boost for foreign economies. My company already offers a 3-day right of recission to the consumer --- which is the same as buying or refinancing a home and better than when buying a car. The entry cost to my company is only $99. People buy TVs, cars, and other items that cost much more than $99 and they don’t have to wait 7 days. The record keeping alone would be insurmountable I am a single home based business owner and this burden would force me to hire outside help, for which I do not have the financial means. This proposed rule would force hundreds of thousands of people here in the US to abandon their businesses. Finally, the proposed rule requires the disclosure of a minimum of 10 prior purchasers nearest to the purchaser. To me, this is definitely a violation of privacy to a complete stranger, not to mention the danger of identity theft, and perhaps even racial discrimination. I am very uncomfortable giving out the personal information of individuals (without their approval) to perfect strangers. I would certainly never give them mine! ... and I'm sure you wouldn't either. It is wrong to burden me with a rule you personally would not adhere to nor cooperate with. In conclusion, I firmly believe this rule will do nothing to stop scam artists! They will find a way around it or, frankly, just ignore it. You know as well as I that rules don't even slow them down. Unfortunately, this rule would have a harsh effect on my business and hundreds of thousands like me who are trying to make a living. Please re-think your position on this. I certainly understand you are tasked with protecting the public but this rule will damage many, many more than it protects. Sincerely, Richard Brinton
