I would like to respond to your pending FTC regulation on business opportunities. I have been a consultant with Partylite Gifts for 13 years this month. At no time in my entire career have I ever felt that Partylite hasn't done things the correct way. Their programs/products/practices are the best! Being a Partylite consultant has allowed me to pay for my children's college - and I have four. When my husband lost his job - it afforded us to be able to keep our home. If you talk to anyone I know -they will tell you how much I have enjoyed this business. The proposals you are suggesting would make it more difficult to do my business and, therefore, impact my income. Specifically, in terms of reference requirements, and because of all of the Privacy Policy issues now enforced - I don't think it is appropriate at all for others to use my own personal information for other's as a reference. In addition, I love sharing the Partylite opportunity and when other people I meet want to start their business - they want to start right away. They are under no obligation to stay with the company for any certain time - they may leave/quit at any time. With Partylite, there is no purchase of a kit to start your business - IT'S FREE!!!!!! If you were to begin employment anywhere else - would you have a 7-day waiting period before you could start? - would you be able to talk and have references from 10 employees of the company about the job you're taking. When you begin with any DSA Company - you are an adult - you should be able to make your own decisions. I believe the DSA has set guidelines appropriate for any direct sales company. The companies that are making a bad name for direct sales are not members of the DSA - PLEASE RECONSIDER SOME OF THE REQUIREMENTS YOU ARE PROPOSING TO REGULATE THE DIRECT SALES INDUSTRY. GO AFTER THE COMPANIES WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE DSA!!!! Thank you for your time and consideration. Respectfully Yours, Mary Kay O'Neill Independent Partylite Consultant
