As an independent associate for Mannatech, I have been able to accomplish two major things. First. I am alive to write this letter, just starting my fifth year of life after my doctors swore I'd be dead. Second, I have been in contact with many in the five years that had brain cancer as well and told there was no further hope for treatment. Some chose to try glyconutrient supplements others did not. Some, in each group, lived, some died. As I cannot see well enough to drive, my contact with people comes mostly from internet use. This fact makes it nearly impossible to follow the Business opportunity Rule proposed by the FTC. I'll admit there are some businesses abuse our system. Labeling all direct selling businesses as such is akin to saying since one Congressman took money from Jack Abermoff or since Patrick Kennedy was given preferential treatment, you all have. Small business is the backbone of our economy. Here needs to be standards that are applied to everyone; however, not at the intention of hurting one type and rewarding on other. Once you decide to by a car, have loan approval and cut your deal, do you have to wait seven days before you can buy it or check with the ten nearest retailers? In regards to those ten references, issues of identity theft and safety are raised. The litigation reporting is quite unfair as it makes no distinction between cases filed and caes found against the company. I do own Mannatech stock and watched it's price plummet as one person filed suit. I later learned, this individual did so in an attempt to sell short on hr stock. Appreciate FTC’s goals, and understand that there are fraudulent groups out there. The FTC’s proposed rule would unfairly target legitimate direct selling businesses. Thank you so much for taking the time in effort to read my message. Clair Hochstein
