Dear FTC, I don’t know how or why the Business Opportunity Rule – R511993 was created, but from what I can see, this is not formed for our free country. This rule would cause so many problems with my and other’s businesses, it would detrimentally affect our economy. The FTC is supposed to be protecting us citizens, yet this type of overregulation would actually cause us harm. Where else in our country do I have to wait for a purchase? The proposed “seven-day waiting period” along with the mandatory additional paperwork is unnecessary and would interfere with my and other’s ability to enter into lawful transactions. On top of that, this proposed rule has penalties and fines which is automatically discouraging. I appreciate your protection of us consumers, yet this proposed rule has many unintended consequences that could be avoided by a less burdensome approach. And, I do agree that no one should be allowed to make false statements. This proposed rule needs to be substantially modified, so it is not a disservice to the consuming public who are trying to get ahead by starting their own business, or earning necessary supplemental income to help support their family. Thank you for your time and service. Sincerely, Dr. Don Olson
