I want the FTC to issue a strong, detailed report. Underage drinking results in death and serious injury to thousands of young people. Meanwhile, The slick marketing campaigns, crafted with obvious youth appeal, in media outlets and sports venues have a large audience that do not appear to avoid the young. There are massive public health costs from underage drinking and the alcohol industry's failure to police itself well. I strongly request that the FTC strengthen its reporting process by collecting detailed data on TV and print media, especially aimed for young audiences, ethnic audiences, sports audiences, and the like. This should go in strong, consistent, annual public reports. Also report on the "responsibility" and "prevention" advertising by alcoholic-beverage companies, and their charitable activities. After comparing voluntary advertising compliance among segments of the industry, make recommendations for both strengthening and enforcing advertising standards. Thank you! I hope to see the FTC play a continued and increasingly active role in protecting our youth from dangerous alcohol marketing, when they are already so vulnerable. </body> </HTML>
