Request to Participate Food Marketing to Kids Workshop Project No. P034519 This is a formal request to participate in the FTC's "Food Marketing to Kids" workshop by the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA is the world's largest organization representing psychologists and the discipline of psychology. With over 150,000 members and affiliates, the APA has a long history of involvement in issues surrounding children and their environment - including the recent APA "Report of the Task Force on Children and Advertising." It is APA's recommendation that the Federal Trade Commission convene a panel at the upcoming "Food Marketing to Kids" workshop of the Children Media Policy Coalition co-chair organizations - The American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Pediatricians, and Children Now. Together and individually, these organizations have represented the interests of children and parents before the FTC, the FCC, and various committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives. The APA looks forward to this workshop and to working with the Federal Trade Commission to address the issues surrounding food marketing to children.
