I have filed several complaints to the Experian credit bureau in regards to an account that is on my report, that has not yet been verified as belonging to me. I have written 5 letters to the agency and 3 to the original creditor. Neither companies will send me verifiable information on this account. I thought if a credit bureau could not accurately verify that the account belonged to me, they must delete it. That is completely untrue. They do not have to verify anything. I know this because I have fought this account, which has mysteriously changed account numbers twice since the dipute, since February. I have written the Better Business Bureau, and the FTC. According to the FTC they don't get involved with credit disputes. I thought part of the FTC efforts was to develop more accurate credit reports. I have read so many stories on the internet that are so similiar to mine. The reporting agencies don't have a problem reporting negative accounts, (whether they belong to you are not)-But it takes an act of Congress to have the negativity removed. I have been turned down for a home loan because of an error the reporting agency made. This may not be a big deal to the agency, however it affects my wife, my children, and me. We have never owned a home before. So their mistakes do impact people's intergrity, family, and future plans. Sincerely, Randy Cloud
