FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning The Detroit Edge Tool Company--P894219 August 7, 1997 Office of the Secretary RE: "Made in USA Policy Comment," FTC File No. P894219 Gentlemen: We fully support your proposed "GUIDES FOR THE USE OF U.S. ORIGIN CLAIMS" to change US manufacturing costs to 75% of total manufacturing costs and that the products are last substantially transformed in the United States. We are presently negotiating with a company in Taiwan that would fit this criteria. The result would be a substantial increase to the revenue and net income of Detroit Edge Tool Company. It would also create additional jobs in the Detroit area and, obviously, generate additional federal income tax. I think Detroit Edge Tool Company is typical of small, medium, and large companies in the US who would benefit by the proposed changes in the FTC Guides. This of course would have positive effects on the US economy. In summary, we strongly support your changes. Sincerely, R.R. Ebbing RRE:lb cc: |
