FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Elida Warren--P894219

August 2, 1997

Office of the Secretary
Federal Trade Commission
Room 159
6th & Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington DC 20508

Dear Secretary,

It has come to my attention that the Federal Trade Commission is considering lowering the percentage that is required to carry the "Made In U.S.A." label. I am fully against lowering the standards that represent the American worker. The "Made In U.S.A." label should mean what it says. To lower the percentage would mean to lower what America stands for. Not only economically. but also the freedoms we take for granted. The FTC should be concentrating on NAFTA more than hurting the American worker. Big business are taking more jobs to other countries, and in turn, are shipping the products back to us. For those of us who support the American worker and business who stay here by purchasing Made in U.S.A. products this is totally fraud. We cannot live on service economy. We must keep our jobs here.

Please do not lower our standards for the "Made In U.S.A." label. "Made In U.S.A." should mean what it says.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak on this very important subject.

Sincerely,

Elida Warren
