Dyersburg, TN 38025-0767 August 5, 1997 Made In The USA Policy Comment Dear Mr Secretary: It is incredible that this letter is even necessary, but apparently concern for the welfare of the American worker has reached new lows. The proposed FTC guideline to permit products to be labeled "Made In The USA" if it is at least 75% true is appalling. I am personally fed up with the premise that our government is creating high tech, high paying jobs for most Americans. To the extent they are being created, it is by the hand and genius of entrepreneurial Americans, and certainly not government policy or action. The manufacturing sector is vital to the health of this country, a fact the FTC has apparently chosen to ignore with this proposal.
