FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Thomas Crowther--P894219 PHONE (330) 454-3664 East Central Ohio
Building & Construction Trades Council July 29, 1997 Ms. Elaine Kolish Dear Ms. Kolish: It has been brought to our attention the Federal Trade Commission is considering changing the requirements for the "Made in the U. S.A. " label. Current requirements state that the product must be 100 percent made in the U.S.A. to be eligible to carry this label. Anything less than 100 percent made in the U.S.A. for the "Made in the U.S.A." label is unacceptable. Companies that can display the "Made in the U.S.A." label have pride in their work and they have stayed in the United States of America to produce their product. By changing the requirements for this label to anything less than 100 percent made in the U.S.A. would only be embracing the companies that have left the United States of America to produce their product thereby giving them the same rights as the companies who have stayed in the United States of America to produce their product, thereby employing the citizens of the United States of America. The East Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council respectfully requests the Federal Trade Commission keep the requirement of 100 percent made in the U.S.A. for the "Made in the U.S.A." label. Sincerely yours, Thomas CrowtherThomas Crowther lmd |
