FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning John Fitzpatrick--P894219 John Fitzpatrick Federal Trade Commission To whom it may concern: As a supporter of the efforts and philosophy of the Buy America Foundation of Abington, Pa., I am writing to the Federal Trade Commission to express my staunch opposition to any relaxation of the standards required to earn a "Made in the U.S.A." label. As a consumer, I consciously shop for products made in this country and do not mind paying extra for them. Thus, I do not want to shop having to wonder if I am paying more for a product which might be labeled "Made in the U.S.A." but which was accounted for by only 75% of U.S. manufacturing costs. If a product is only 75% made in the U.S.A., then please do me the courtesy of requiring U.S. manufacturers to label it as just that "75% Made in the U.S.A." That, after all, would constitute "truth in advertising," wouldn't it? Thank you for your attention to these comments. I trust that those involved will do what is necessary to not only provide consumers with accurate information but also protect the jobs of those who produce goods in this country.
