Made in the USA Policy Comments
No. P894219
Room 159
Washington, D.C. 20580

To Whom It May Concern:

The “Made-in-the-U.S.A.” label is a fifty-year tradition that clearly identifies to the consumer where the Product was made. The proposed change in the labeling requirements would after the purpose of having a label at all. The obvious reason to change the labeling requirements is to allow manufacturers who decide to produce some part of their product out of the country, the tremendous marketing advantage of having a “Made-in-the-U.S.A." label on their product.

The idea of rating a producers content by the cost of production is not a fair measure of the labor that went into the production of that product. The world's labor pool is hardly equally compensated monetarily for the labor they provide.

I urge the Federal Trade Commission to reject this proposal as it can only lead to confusion for the consumer, and to the continued erosion of our job market.

Sincerely,

Paul J. Vergari
