Dear Senator Breaux:
I remain very concerned about the loss of jobs and lower salaries due to unfair trade agreements and unenforced provisions of our trade agreements. Please ask President Clinton NOT to implement the trucking part of NAFTA. Please oppose fast track authority for new trade deals that will further erode our jobs and salaries. And, please support the NAFTA accountability Act, which would require the U.S., Canada and Mexico to negotiate a better trade pact. We need real labor, environmental, and human rights provisions that are enforceable. With out this everyone but the CEOs loose.
Also, please stop the Federal Trade Commission proposal to corrupt the "Made in U.S.A." label. Currently "Made in the U.S.A. means "all or virtually all" of the parts and labor in a product are domestic. The FTC wants to change this, perpetrating a fraud on those who want to patronize the workers of our country.
Thank you for your kind consideration of my views and may God bless you.
Mark G. Barrios
