FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Richard/Gwen Beem--P894219 July 22, 1997 FTC Dear Sir/Madam: It is with regret that I even find a letter of this nature necessary. It seems that in the last few years our own government has become our worst offender in furthering the interests of foreign governments. I will not nor will any of my family or friends buy anything that is not made in America. It is the American way - Americans for Americans first. We are totally against your consideration of changing the 50-year-old rule that "all or virtually all" of a product be made domestically before it can be labeled "Made-in-U.S.A." If you feel a need to change the labeling, then tell it like it is (75% made in U.S. or 60% made in U.S. & tell us where the rest is manufactured). "Made-in-U.S.A." should mean only one thing: that all or virtually all of the product was made here. I respectfully request that you reject the notion to modify the original proposal.
