FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Mrs. Margaret Fauci--P894219 July 17, 1997 Secretary Donald Clark Dear Secretary Clark: Made in the U.S.A. should mean only one thing, completely made in the United States of America, not Japan, Korea, China or any other place. I am totally outraged and disgusted at the fact that the FTC would want to put a label on items that were partially made elsewhere to read Made in the U.S.A. As it is, I feel that foreign countries, especially China, have such a strong hold on our products - everything is China made and I do mean everything, from clothing and shoes to crafts, linens, bedding, electrical, Christmas decorations, I could go on and on and on. This is still a communist country which we have made economically and financially stronger then we are! People should wake up! The trade with other countries is so out of balance it is ridiculous! One just has to go to a store - any store - and try to find a product that is made in our own country (which by the way all of my family and friends as well as myself still look for!!!). I would prefer to spend my money on what my own people have made, however, most often than not I am forced to purchase foreign clothing, shoes, etc. etc. because I cannot find anything that is made here. I resent having to be forced to purchase items such as these from foreign countries because they can not even size these items properly. It takes forever to purchase a pair of shoes that fit, plus I must go up a size larger than what I take, which is quite annoying, only to have to purchase another pair within a few months because they do not last. Things are not made as well in other countries as they are here. Granted it costs more if made here, however, I personally would rather spend more money for a better quality, better made, better constructed item. I cant believe that the FTC would allow such a scam as to put a label on products that was not completely made here. How could anyone lie to the American people. What has happened to our country over the last few years saddens me. Where is the pride that we all felt? What happened to the standards that our country was built on? Unfortunately it appears to me that not in so many years to come the USA will not be the United States of America, it will be a foreign country who will completely own us. Little by little our freedoms are being taken away, little by little we are losing our jobs, our respect, our pride, our self-worth, little by little we as Americans will no longer exist. We will bow down to a new regime who will tell us where we can work, where we can live, what we can say and what we can do. Can't anyone see what's been happening???? I am very worried about our future in this country. Please do not allow what little is left to be taken away also. Please let MADE IN U.S.A. stand for exactly what it should mean, made in and only in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Sincerely, Mrs. Margaret FauciMrs. Margaret Fauci |
