FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Lloyd C. Smith--P894219 As I See It
July 21, 1997 Federal Trade Commission
Keep the "Made in the U.S.A lable" rule as is. We do not need any more rule change making to enhance the incomes of the multinationals that have abandoned the people that have made them able to be multinationals. Relaxing the rule would, simply put, allow the importation of cheaply made and inferior products to carry the thought that they were made in America by Americans when in fact they were not. Thereby deceiving the American public again. If the desire is to change the rule, I would say that it should be more stringent, put some very sharp teeth in place that would make it a major felony, if the rule is violated, and impose large fines with prison time for the CEO,s of the offending company.
