FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Christopher T. Clingen--P894219

Secretary Donald Clark
Federal Trade Commission

July 15, 1997

Dear Sir,

It has just come to my attention that the Federal Trade Commission will be considering a proposal which will change the criteria which qualifies a product to bear the "Made in USA" label. As a citizen of this great country of ours and also as a consumer, I must say I am outraged that such a proposal is even being considered. I work very hard for the money I earn, and pay dearly in taxes, which sustain bureaucrats like yourself, who cater to big corporations who are eager to deceive the American people. Now I am sure that you would not characterize your actions as bluntly as that, but as an informed citizen, I can see that your office is trying to pull a fast one. As a dedicated American worker, a tax-payer, and also as a consumer, I would just like to convey to you my opinion that any product sold in this country which has not been manufactured 100% by an American work force, does not warrant the "Made in USA" label.

Please make your decision based on what concerned Americans feel and not based on Big Business' interests. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Christopher T. Clingen
