Subject: Made in USA Policy Comment

Dear Sirs,

The proposed changes to the existing standards are unacceptable to me. They would benefit, primarily, the majority of industries that have moved all or most of their operations overseas. This has already cost us hundreds of thousands of good American jobs, and weakening the standards would only encourage them to move even more jobs out of the United States.

These companies should be made to label their products truthfully and completely. If the products are made in whole or in part overseas, then we should be able to tell this by reading the labels before we mistakenly spend American dollars on foreign-made goods.

There are many, tax-paying Americans who wish to support American industry by buying American-made products. It should be your goal to make this easier for them, not harder. You should be instituting policies and standards to encourage the growth of American industry, and to discourage those U.S. based industries that have abandoned their patriotism for sweatshop profits.

Please refuse to adopt the proposed changes to these standards.

Sincerely,

Sue A. Karafa
