FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Kevin P. Smith--P894219
I read with great concern that you are currently reviewing policy which allows a lessening of the requirements for labeling a product "Made in the U.S.A". As a generation Xer with two small children I am not only worried about the present condition of our generation today but the fact that you wish to lessen these standards for virtually no benefit to the citizens of this country. Some consumers appreciate the fact that when a products displays "Made in America" we are assisting other families of our great country to keep their jobs in our great country. If this attitude would be universal than companies would be forced to remain within our borders and manufacture products here or risk going out of business. We are presently losing billions of dollars to foreign trade and lessening the standard by which we afix the label "Made in the U.S.A" will only make the standard of living harder for my children when they grow.
