FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning James Mc Cracken--P894219 May 9, 1997 Dear Sirs: I read an article in the May 6, 1997 Wall Street Journal re your proposal to "let companies label products 'Made in USA' if at least 75 % of the manufacturing costs are incurred in the U.S.....," Here is my "public comment." DON'T DO IT!! It is shameful enough that America has lost ½ of its manufacturing assets but then to lie about it is worse. The # should be 100 % for the label; if not, list what item and its % of total cost and its country where made. Solaray health-food pills label some bottles as its ingredients from "all over the world " or "around the world." How do they get away with that? Specify! Keep manufacturing in America; if not, say so, James Mc Cracken J. M. C.R. R. BOX 260 |
