To whom is may concern:

As stated in my original letter, I think that this "Made in the USA" claim, should be just that - MADE THE USA. It seems to me that when a percentage is used to claim this, instead of the current method, there is quite a bit of room for interpretation, that is not there now.

Some of the commenters stated that they would not have the advantage they do now when claiming “Made in the USA”. These companies spent time and money finding domestic sources for their manufacturing.

Maybe a labeling change should be permitted to state, when size allows, "Made in USA" of domestic materials. This too should be voluntary so as not to require large labels on some of the smaller products. A label like this, would allow the consumer to still look for products that are in fact made in this country.

In closing it is sad to me when there even has to be this kind of review held about wording that should be so clear. It is disturbing too that the total number of comments were as low as they were.

Sincerely,

David A. Smith
