FTC: Made In The USA Comments Concerning Jerome McCollom--P894219 Dear Sir: It has come to my attention that federal trade commission is considering changes in the rules that allow the proud tag "Made in America" When I or other consumers buy merchandise that says that we assume that it is indeed made here, not finally assembled after all components shipped in. This is not only misleading to consumers, something that is the directed duty by congressional statue for the FTC to enforce but also harmful to American Workers. Before, when you buy an American product you knew that it was made by American workers who earned a fair wage, with this change in rules this comes into question. Companies can still use as today the labels "Made in US and imported parts" or "US content: 60%" for example. I urge you not to kneel to the industry you are entrusted to regulate but stand up for American consumers and workers. Sincerely, Jerome McCollomJEROME McCOLLOM |
