Secretary of the FTC:
I wish to register a comment pertaining to the
proposed change in “made in the USA” labeling
requirements.
- The “made in the USA” label is of great
importance to me. I always look for it while
shopping. I want to know where the item I’m
buying was made. I often make purchasing
decisions based on this information.
- If an item is only partly made in the US, I want
to know that also. It helps me to compare
products.
- I also need to know whether a product has any
content from Peoples Republic of China. I claim
“concientious objector” status with
regard to purchasing items made in PRC. I have
very good reasons for doing this which I cannot
get into here. The proposed change in policy
would eliminate my ability to practice freedom of
speech with regard to not purchasing items
partially made in PRC.
- Manufacturers would not be asking for this
relaxation of the rules if it made no difference
to the public. It does make a difference.
Don’t relax the labeling requirements!
