Secretary of the FTC:

I wish to register a comment pertaining to the proposed change in “made in the USA” labeling requirements.

  1. The “made in the USA” label is of great importance to me. I always look for it while shopping. I want to know where the item I’m buying was made. I often make purchasing decisions based on this information.
  2. If an item is only partly made in the US, I want to know that also. It helps me to compare products.
  3. I also need to know whether a product has any content from Peoples Republic of China. I claim “concientious objector” status with regard to purchasing items made in PRC. I have very good reasons for doing this which I cannot get into here. The proposed change in policy would eliminate my ability to practice freedom of speech with regard to not purchasing items partially made in PRC.
  4. Manufacturers would not be asking for this relaxation of the rules if it made no difference to the public. It does make a difference. Don’t relax the labeling requirements!

Sincerely,

Richard Friend
