Federal Trade Commission Received Documents May 3, 1996 P894219 B18354900152 April 29, 1996 Office of the Secretary FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Room 159 Sixth & Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20580 Dear Sir/Madam: We write in support of the American Hand Tool Coalition and specifically Snap-On Tools, Inc. on the issue of "Made in U.S.A." claims for products sold in the United States. We support the Federal Trade Commissions' current interpretation and enforcement of "Made in U.S.A." claims that products have all or virtually all domestic origin. Allowing companies who do not meet the current standards to claim and advertise their products as "Made in U.S.A." by diluting it's meaning would be unfair to companies who do meet these standards. We also believe it would be deceptive to consumers, who may buy products based on these "Made in U.S.A." claims. We encourage the Federal Trade Commission to consider the recommendations of the American Hand Tool Coalition. Respectfully, William T. Carroll Outside Sales Representative WTC:dls cc: Brad Goranson Ned Bennett STEEL TECHNOLOGIES INC.
