Federal Trade Commission Received Documents Jan 29 1996 B18354900121 Secretary 3617 Oas Dr. W. Tacoma, WA 98466 January 22, 1996 Office of the Secretary Federal Trade Commission Room 159 Washington, D.C. 20580 Dear Sir or Madam: I urge you to maintain high standards in determining what products can claim a "Made in USA" label. As a consumer, I depend on these labels. When I purchase a product, I consider the working conditions of the people who are making the product. Too many industry groups are willing to do little or nothing to improve the standard of living for the worker. As an American consumer, I want this information available to me. Please maintain our high standards. As Americans, we need to do as much as possible to raise the living standards of all people in all nations, especially the workers who so often have little control over their working conditions. Your decision can be very influential in this matter. Sincerely, Sandra J. Bowman
