Federal Trade Commission Received Documents Jan 23 1996 B18354900110 Secretary Dear Secretary, We believe if a product has a "Made in the USA" label it should mean made in the USA 100%. Why do you need to lie to the USA consumer? "Bring our factories back" Copy of article attached with notation "USA Today 1-17-96": MADE IN USA STANDARD The Federal Trade Commission has extended the deadline for consumer and business input on the definition of the "Made in the USA" label to Monday. Also, 18 state attorneys general urged the FTC Tuesday to stick with high standards in determining what products can claim a "Made in the USA" label. Industry groups say the strict rules, requiring virtually all of a labeled product to be made in the USA, ignore the realities of the international marketplace.
