FOR YOUR INFORMATION..................April 12, 1989 Sun Co. has asked the Federal Trade Commission to approve its proposed divestiture of a gasoline station in Binghamton, N.Y., to Anthony V. Manley, who currently operates the station. Sun had previously proposed divesting the station to Amerada Hess Corp., along with a light petroleum products terminal and 9 related stations. At that time, Sun also proposed divesting a terminal in Williamsport, Penn., and five related gas stations. Commission approval of the divestitures is required by a consent order charging that Sun's acquisition of Atlantic Petroleum Corp. could lessen competition in the distribution and marketing of gasoline and other light petroleum products in the Binghamton, N.Y., and Williamsport, Penn., areas. The petitions to approve the divestitures will be subject to public comment for 30 days, until May 12. Comments should be addressed to the Office of the Secretary, Federal Trade Commission, 6th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580. Copies of Sun's letter concerning the Binghamton gas station are available from the FTC's Public Reference Branch, Room 130, 6th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. N.W. Washington, D.C. 20580; 202- 326-2222; TTY 202-326-2502. # # # MEDIA CONTACT: Susan Ticknor, Office of Public Affairs, 202-326-2181 STAFF CONTACT: Ronald B.
