Louisville, KY – On Tuesday, September 9th, the Federal Trade Commission, the Kentucky Attorney General's Office, and the Better Business Bureau of Louisville, Southern Indiana, and Western Kentucky will present a one-day back-to-basics workshop about complying with truth-in-advertising standards entitled Green Lights and Red Flags: FTC Rules of the Road for Advertisers. Co-sponsored by the Better Business Bureaus of Lexington, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Evansville, the workshop will feature a roster of national and regional experts to help business owners, marketing executives, and attorneys learn the latest developments in advertising law.

Green Lights and Red Flags will be hosted by Bellarmine University's Center for Ethics and
Social Justice. The September 9th workshop will be held in Frazier Hall on the Bellarmine
Campus, 2001 Newberg Road in Louisville, and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.

The special luncheon speaker will be James Guthrie, President of the National Advertising Review Council.

Topics to be discussed at the workshop include:

  • The Ins and Outs of Ad Substantiation
  • The Bottom Line on Fine Print: Effective Disclosures in Advertising
  • The FTC’s National "Do-Not-Call" Registry
  • DOT.COMpliance: Special Considerations for E-tailers
  • The National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau: Resolving Disputes
    Without Litigation

The workshop will also feature specialized roundtables for members of the automobile industry
and home improvement companies.

Green Lights and Red Flags is open to the public. The registration fee of $30 ($25 for BBB
members) includes lunch and a CD-ROM of all workshop materials. Please visit
