Statement of Richard Parker, Director, FTC Bureau of Competition Regarding Today's Order in the Matter of FTC v. Heinz
The Commission is extremely pleased by the circuit court's order granting its request for an injunction pending appeal in FTC v. Heinz. The Commission believed when it decided to bring the case, and continues to believe, that this merger is patently illegal.
The judges agreed with our argument that the FTC has a substantial probability of winning this case on the merits, and granted an injunction blocking the merger pending appeal. This clearly vindicates our decision to bring this challenging case.
