The Federal Trade Commission today announced the following actions:
Application for modification of Commission order:
- The FTC has received an application for modification of a Commission order from the following: The Boeing Company. In the application, Boeing has requested that the order be modified to terminate all provisions relating to Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs). This request has been made because: 1) Boeing allegedly no longer participates in either UAV program that was the reason for the original provisions of the order; and 2) Boeing contends the provisions are thwarting the ability of the United States to have the company use UAV data and expertise on other Department of Defense programs. Boeing has accordingly requested modifications to paragraphs I-VIII of the original order.
The Commission is seeking public comment on the application for 30 days, until June 5, 2000. Comments should be sent to the Office of the Secretary, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580. (FTC File No. 971-006; staff contact is Daniel P. Ducore, 202-326-2526; see press release dated March 7, 1997.)
