FTC to Hold Public Workshop on Appropriate Methods to Obtain Parental Consent in Conjunction with Rulemaking on Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
The Federal Trade Commission will hold a public workshop on July 20, 1999, to explore appropriate methods to obtain parental consent in conjunction with the FTC's rulemaking on the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. COPPA, with certain exceptions, requires that web sites obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from children.

New York Drycleaners Agree To Settle Federal Charges that They Provided Deceptive Care Labels to Wedding Gown Manufacturers
Continental Gown Cleaning Service, Inc., a New York-based drycleaning operation, four related drycleaning companies operating at the same address, and the two individuals who controlled them, have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they violated the FTC Act by providing improper care labels to wedding gown manufacturers who attached the improper labels to the gowns they manufactured and sold.
