Commission action regarding applications for approval: Following a public comment period, the Commission has ruled on applications for approval of transactions from the following:

 

  • Tejas Energy LLC. The Commission vote to approve the divestiture application was 4-0. (See news release dated October 1, 1998; FTC File No. 981 0166; Staff contact is Daniel P. Ducore, 202-326-2526.)

 

  • Tenet Healthcare Corporation. The Commission vote to approve the divestiture application was 4-0. (See news releases dated January 29, 1997; November 12, 1998; Docket No. C-3743; Staff contact is Roberta Baruch, 202-326-2861.)

 

Consent agreements given final approval: Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement with the following entity. The Commission action makes the consent order binding on the respondent.

 

  • Summit Technology, Inc. and VISX, Inc. The Commission vote to approve each of the final orders was 4-0. (See news release dated August 21, 1998; Docket No. 9286; Staff contact is Willard K. Tom, 202-326-2786.)

 

Federal Register Notice:

 

  • American College for Advancement in Medicine. A notice announcing that the Commission will reopen the public record for filing comments in this matter will be published shortly in the Federal Register. The comment period, which expired on February 16, 1999, will be extended through March 31, 1999. Comments should be sent to: FTC, Office of the Secretary, Room 159, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20850. The Commission vote to extend the comment period was 3-1, with Commissioner Sheila Anthony dissenting. Commissioner Anthony and Commissioner Orson Swindle issued separate statements.
