    Third Wedding Gown Manufacturer Agrees to Pay Civil Penalty To Settle Care Labeling Charges
    Alyce Designs Inc. and two corporate officers have agreed to pay a $36,000 civil penalty to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they violated the Care Labeling Rule by selling wedding gowns with care labels provided by Continental Gown Cleaning Service, Inc., that falsely stated that the drycleaner's "Zurcion" method was the only way to clean the gowns.

    Pharmacy Association in Puerto Rico and its Former President Agree to Settle Price Fixing Charges
    The Asociacion de Farmacias Region de Arecibo ("AFRA") and Ricardo Alvarez Class ("Alvarez") (together referred to as "respondents"), have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they fixed prices and engaged in an illegal boycott in order to obtain higher reimbursement rates for pharmacy goods and services under Puerto Rico's government managed care plan for the indigent.

    The Federal Trade Commission has charged Franklin Credit Services, Inc., Amansco Credit Services, Inc., and the companies' principal owner, James Michael Christensen, with falsely representing to consumers that they would receive a low-interest, debt consolidation loan for a one time fee of $295.

    Medical Association Settles False Advertising Charges Over Promotion of "Chelation Therapy"
    The American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it made unsubstantiated and false advertising claims that non-surgical, EDTA "chelation therapy" is effective in treating atherosclerosis, and that the effectiveness of the therapy has been proven by scientific studies.

    The Commission has voted to approve Supervalu's request for a shortened comment period on its application to divest two stores in Casper, Wyoming, to Tidyman's LLC as noted in a press release issued on November 20, 1998. The Commission vote to shorten the comment period was 4-0.

    Dallas Telemarketers in FTC Investment Fraud Case Settle FTC Charges
    Daniel W. Fisher and J. Todd Tidmore, named as defendants in the Federal Trade Commission’s "Project Field of Schemes" investment fraud cases, have agreed in separate settlements to post performance bonds as a condition to any future involvement in the promotion of any investment, as part of an agreement with the FTC.

    Robert M. Oliver, who promoted a business opportunity through material posted on an Internet site that promised potential purchasers that they could set-up the "Consumer Protection Agency" for the city or county chosen by the purchaser, has agreed to settle charges that he violated the Federal Trade Commission's Franchise Rule and Section 5 of the FTC Act.
