The Federal Trade Commission today announced the following action:

Publication of Federal Register notice:

  • The Commission has approved the publication of a Federal Register notice describing the submission of proposed self-regulatory guidelines by ESRB Privacy Online, a division of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). The notice addresses the safe harbor requirements set forth in Section 312.10 of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) and requests public comments on ESRB's application for approval. The full text of ESRB's application is available on the FTC's Web site.

    As detailed in the Federal Register notice, written comments should be sent to the Office of the Secretary, Federal Trade Commission, Room H-159, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580 within 30 days of publication. In addition, comments may be submitted via e-mail to safeharbor@ftc.gov. with the caption "ESRB Safe Harbor Proposal - Comment, P004504. Comments will be accepted through July 31, 2000.
