The Federal Trade Commission is seeking public comment about a proposed telephone survey of consumers and their experience with the rent-to-own industry. The request for public comment, which was published in the Federal Register on May 6, 1998, outlines a proposal the FTC will submit to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for permission to conduct a telephone survey. The FTC believes such a survey would assist it in evaluating consumer protection concerns. The deadline for comments is July 6, 1998.

The Commission vote to publish the Federal Register notice was 5-0.
