Lorraine Carroll Miller has been named Director of Congressional Relations at the Federal Trade Commission, FTC Chairman Robert Pitofsky announced today.

Miller's appointment is effective immediately.

Before joining the FTC, Miller spent two and one-half years at the White House, serving as Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. In that position, she directed White House communications with the U. S. House of Representatives.

In addition, Miller has served as Floor Assistant to U.S. Rep. John Lewis, formerly the Chief Deputy Majority Whip, from 1991 to 1993. She also was Legislative Assistant for the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, chaired by former Speaker Thomas S. Foley and, previously, was Executive Staff Assistant to former Speaker Jim Wright.

Miller received a B.S. from North Texas State University. She is currently completing a Masters in Public Administration at American University.

Miller resides in Washington, D.C.
