Event Description

In recent years, states and the federal government have taken steps to encourage restructuring and competition in the electric industry, including the elimination of regulatory barriers. The intent of this workshop, which was jointly convened by the FTC, the National Council on Competition and the Electric Industry, and the National Regulatory Research Institute, was to provide a forum for discussing the experience under policies that have been implemented at the state level regarding competition in the electricity industry. The main topics of the workshop included how states have dealt with possible utility market power and consumer protection issues.
