Mark MacCarthy
Mark MacCarthy is Senior Vice President for Public Policy at Visa. He has represented Visa before Congress, the Executive Branch, banking regulators and other regulatory agencies. In his role as Senior Vice President, he is responsible for Visa’s public policy initiatives and strategies in the areas of electronic commerce, technology policy, information security and privacy. He has more than twenty five years experience in public policy making and government affairs. Prior to his current position, Mr. MacCarthy spent six years as a principal and senior director within the Wexler-Walker Group, a government affairs consulting firm based in Washington, DC.
Mr. MacCarthy has also served as Vice President of Capital Cities/ABC’s Washington office and as a staff member to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. He has also worked as an economist performing regulatory analyses of safety and health regulations for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Mr. MacCarthy has a Doctorate in Philosophy from Indiana University and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
