Jim Kohlenberger is the Executive Director of the Voice on the Net (VON) Coalition, the voice for the VoIP industry and the policy framework that enables it. As executive director, he helps educate policymakers about the power and potential of Internet voice communication. Prior to the VON Coalition, Kohlenberger served 8 years during the Clinton administration as a White House policy advisor where he helped formulate U.S. policy on technology, telecommunications, and the Internet. Specifically, he worked to help pass the Telecommunications Act of 1996, help shape the administration's hands-off approach to the Internet and e-commerce, and help spearhead administration efforts to bridge the digital divide and connect every classroom to the Internet. In addition to the VON Coalition, he runs his own consulting practice, is Senior Fellow for the Benton Foundation and is on the Board of the International Commission on Workforce Development.
