Eric Horvitz
Eric Horvitz is Principal Researcher and Research Area Manager at Microsoft Research. He pursues research in machine learning and reasoning, search and information retrieval, ecommerce, and human-computer interaction. He and his teams have made multiple contributions to Microsoft products and strategy in such realms as search, communications, computer operating systems, privacy, personalization, and healthcare.
Mr. Horvitz is President-elect and Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). He has served as Chair of the Association for Uncertainty and Artificial Intelligence (AUAI), and on the DARPA Information Science and Technology (ISAT) Study Group and the Naval Research Advisory Committee (NRAC). He is Associate Editor of the Journal of the ACM, where he oversees the Decisions, Uncertainty, and Computation area. He received PhD and MD degrees at Stanford University.
