To Whom It May Concern: Please accept this letter as our joint request to participate in the Public Workshop on Online Profiling to be held November 8, 1999, at the U.S. Department of Commerce. We would like to participate together in all three Sessions - I, II, and III. We are both CEOs of online promotional products stores. As businessmen involved directly in e-commerce, we have a strong interest in the use of online profiling to help us determine how to market to our audiences. We believe we are representational of online marketers and advertisers. As citizens and primarily as parents, we are equally, if not more, concerned with the rights of privacy and protection of the consumer, particularly children and teens accessing the Web. We oppose any efforts that would compromise the safety of minors who access the Web. Based on our involvement in e-commerce, we believe we can bring a combined depth of expertise to the discussions at this workshop. We believe that educating the public and helping create an environment where the consumer, particularly children and teens, can feel safe will benefit all affected parties. Thank you for your consideration of our request. We will gladly provide additional information to assist with your decision. Please do not hesitate to contact either of us. Sincerely, Brad Keywell Paul T. Vogelzang /ec |
